Surgery has been scheduled for Thursday October 26th at Baptist East Hospital, pending the oncologists agreement tomorrow

.Wednesday October 25, 2006

Judy was seen by the oncologist today and surgery was confirmed for Thursday October 26th. The oncologist  feels confident that removing the lung will also remove any sign of cancer. Please keep Judy and Dee in prayers.

Thursday October 26, 2006

Praises!!! I just got home and Judy came through surgery  with flying colors. Surgery completed approximately 7:30pm est. The right lung was removed as planned. Several lymph nodes were enlarged  and were collected for specimens ( this is routine in this type of surgery) with results of the tests on lymph nodes early next week ( due to the week-end). Presently Judy is on a ventilator but plans are to wean her as soon as possible. She will probably be in ICU until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Rev. Dee and Judy  sends thanks for all prayers that were sent throughout the day

Please remember to  send e-mails and e-cards to RevDee@aol.com

You can also go to the Baptist East Hospital Site scroll to the bottom of the page and click "send patient a card" and  fill out the form  to send a card directly through the hospital. They will deliver the cards to Judy.

                 Please do not send flowers!!!!

10:00pm Update (10-26-06)

Judy has been taken off the vent and it doing well at this time. The doctor has restricted all visitors except Rev Dee for at least three days because Judy needs rest for her remaining lung to strengthen. Please watch the website for open visiting. THisa will not occur until she is moved out of ICU

Friday October 27, 2006

12 Noon

Judy is continuing to do very well. Remains off of the ventilatotor at this time. She is in good humor but needs to rest from the surgery.

I cannot stress enough the importance of adhering to the NO VISITORS rule.  The doctors are very worried about infection right now and with flu season starting this makes it even more important to follow the NO VISITOR rule. Please follow updates on this site.

10:00pm

No reported changes.

For those of you that know "Cookie" Judy and Dees' dog she also had surgery on Friday to repair her knees and just like mom came through the surgery in great shape. She can't wait until mom gets home to show off her new jumps.

Saturday  10-28-06  2:00pm

Judy is continuing to show progress and in very good spirits. She is being maintained right now on 3L oxygen but her levels are stable. She was  up in a chair this morning for 1 hour and although she was tired tolerated it very well. She had a minor problem with her urine output last night  but that has been cleared up. All catheters have been removed including her epidural that was being used for pain control. She  now has a regular IV for her pain medications. We are still waiting on pathology reports  but are not expecting them back until Monday or Tuesday.

Please remember that she cannot have any visitors at this time. Her suceptibility to infection is still very high.

Judy loves to receive cards so you can send one directly through the Baptist East website

  http://www.baptisteast.com/

or if you want to send something a little fancier please send to RevDee@aol.com

Also remember NO FLOWERS please

4:00pm

Judy has been moved out of ICU to Room 522 but continues with NO VISITORS at this time. We know many of you are anxious to pay a visit but at this time Judy's wellness and healing are priority and she knows she is in your prayers. She  also had to have a catheter reinserted since she has not been able to urinate well. Judy is  very tired due to sitting up  today and the move  which took 2 hours!!!!

Please continue to monitor her progress through this website and via email

Sunday October 29, 2006

Hi Everyone, I am sorry this is being posted late in the day but I had a long day at church.

Judy is doing very well but tires very easily. She has been sitting up on the side of the bed dangling and going to walk later today. We are still asking people not to visit but to send cards. No Flowers please.

The pathology came back this  morning and praises that 2 two swollen lymph nodes that were removed came back negative for cancer cells, howerever there is one node that is showing a slight positive so Judy will be receiving chemotherapy for a short period after she comes home. The oncologist and the pathologist will be meeting tomorrow to determine whether the actual stage of the  cancer was Stage 1 or 2.

All staging for cancer includes information on the size of the tumour, whether there is cancer in the lymph nodes and whether the cancer has spread anywhere else.

After she goes home she will also continue to receive periodic serial scans for 2-3 years. This is routine to rule out a possible recurrence of the disease.

Remember Judy loves cards so please send as many as possible

Further updates as information comes in.

Monday October 30, 2006

Another great day to sing praises to an awesome god. Judy is still doing very well. Has walked the track on the unit ( around the nurses station...lol) a couple of times; sits at bedside and is keeping  her oxygen saturation  levels above 90% ( she is on oxygen).

The docs are still unsure of the stage (1 or 2) due to the one lymph node and are leaning towards a hold on the chemotherapy at this time.( they believe  the cancer was contained within the one lung) Every decision is  day-by-day and brings more blessings.

Remember No Visitors due to infection concerns and please No  Phone Calls ( talking on the phone makes Judy very tired). Keep the cards coming...Judy loves to read them all

Thats all for today until a further update (probably tomorrow)

Tuesday October 31,2006-6:00am

This entire week a  concern for Judy has been "Cookie" the dog that belongs to her and Rev. Dee. When at home Judy and Cookie are inseparable and as it was reported earlier Cookie had surgery the day after Judy. Judy and Dee  asked  that she share this page with Judy so here are a few after surgery pictures.

2:00pm

Judy is still stable but with a minor blood pressure drop.(90/60) The medical staff is reviewing her medications and making a few changes to compensate for the change. They are also trying her off of oxygen  when she is in bed resting ( but still using it when she is up). Still tiring very easily so Please continue  with No Phone Calls and still at a No Visitor status.

Keep the cards and prayers coming!

Wednesday Nov 1, 2006

Praises that the doctors were able to stabilize Judy's blood pressure and although still tired is doing betrter and better each day.  The pathology report finally determined  the Cancer to be Stage 2 and Judy will only have to have 3-4 chemotherapy treatments at home. Hopefully Judy will be released from the hospital soon. We will keep you updated.

Thursday Nov. 2, 2006

No news is good news ( no update called in)

Friday November 3, 2006

Judy continues to be stable and trying to increase her strength. Please continue with No Visitor, No Phone Call status

2:00pm

Good News!!! Judy is going home today. She will continue to be on oxygen, and a variety of medications. She will also be getting her staples out on Tuesday. As much as Judy is missing everyone could you please give her a couple of days to adjust to being home before calling or visiting. If you are planning on visiting please make sure you have no colds or other communicable infections since Judy is still in a weakened state after surgery. Also please make visits short so as not to overtire her. Continue to send cards in care of MCC Louisville ( the church) or through Dees email since Judy will not be on the computer for a while. And finally please offer praises to God or whomever is your higher spirit for bringing Judy and Dee through this "bump in their life road".

Sunday November 5, 2006

Judy is doing very well at home although she continues to  get very short of breathe when trying to talk ( Please continue no phone calls). She also broke the record at Baptist East Hospital with over 250 e-cards from well wishers. Please keep the cards coming throught the church or Rev. Dee. Jusy loves hearing from everyone. Please keep the prayers coming.

Also Cookie is very glad that Mommy is home and now can quit worrying about her.

Monday November 13

Visits and Phone calls are  now welcome. But please remember to keep calls short and do  not visit if you have any type of flu, or severe cold.
